Family Law Mediation Options

Don’t let the court decide what happens with your family and your future.

Cooperative Mediation

The parties meet for a series of meetings to discuss custody, parenting plans, financial planning, and/or property distribution depending on each couples circumstances.  The ultimate goal is to identify a conflict free path for the family to transition from one home to two. Number of meetings depends upon the goals of each family.  Upon conclusion of cooperative mediation, you will receive a mediated settlement agreement.

Litigation Mediation

One or both parties are represented by an attorney and have already filed a suit for divorce, custody or support.  The parties and their attorneys meet for a half or full day to come to a settlement on the terms of the suit.  Upon settlement, one party’s attorney creates a final order based on the terms of the settlement and gets the final order approved by a judge.

Drive By Mediation

Both parties and their attorneys meet with the mediator to sign off on an existing agreement. This should only take an hour or less.  Both parties should review the proposed agreement with their attorneys for final approval prior to signing the document.  Where most mediations require negotiating contested issues, a drive-by mediation is used to finalize an agreement and make it binding.
